Family Friend Program

The Family Friend program provides support to single parents living in the Fredericton area who face barriers to social, health or financial security.  The goal of the program is to provide a support network and facility access to single parents and their dependents experiencing isolation from community.

Family Friend will be based on the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (Emotional, Spiritual, Physical, Social, Financial, Occupational, Intellectual and Environmental) in alignment with the YMCA’s dedication to the growth of all persons in spirit, mind and body, and to their sense of responsibility to each other and the global community.

Regular meetings are held at the Fredericton Public Library on the second Wednesday of every month from 6:00-7:30pm, during the session. We will let you know when the next session meets.

Meetings will be a mix of time with family and a time where the parents and children are engaged in separate facilitated activities.

Respect, Tolerance and Confidentiality are key to the success of the group.

YMCA memberships for active participants are provided at no cost to the family in exchange for survey completion. Memberships will run in 3 month intervals at which point a survey will need to be completed to extend membership for another 3 months.

Memberships include access to one registered program per session; additional program fees may apply.  Please speak with program facilitator if there are financial barriers to accessing a specific program.
