YMCA Statement on Peace
YMCA Peace Week is a time when we celebrate the presence of peace in our communities, and reflect on the peace-building work that happens all year both inside and outside the YMCA. The YMCA believes peace is more than the absence of violence and conflict. Peace is the ongoing work of building and rebuilding conditions of fairness, inclusion, empathy, security, and respect for diversity. When Canadians embody the values of PEACE through our daily actions, we can build a better Canada.
Each year, YMCAs across Canada celebrate acts of peace by recognizing individuals or groups who, without any special resources, status, wealth or position, have demonstrated a commitment to building peace within our community. Nominate a peace maker in our community for a YMCA Peace Medallion today! Click Peace Week for the nomination form.
A vibrant healthy community offers opportunities for everyone. At the YMCA, that often means stepping forward with a new program or service to address specific and unique needs in the communities we serve. At the YMCA of Fredericton, we provide services for those seeking employment through our YMCA Work Services and the YMCA Career Centre, located at 300 St. Mary’s Street on the 3rd floor. We also offer the following two programs: Family Friend Program for single parents of young children and the POWER UP Youth Program, to engage highschool aged youth in the community.
