Youth Empowerment Strategy (Y.E.S)

A Charity Igniting the Potential in People
The YMCA Empowerment Strategy (Y.E.S) Campaign
This October, we kick off our Y.E.S campaign! We believe that everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances, deserves to be a part of our welcoming community. Did you know that more than 15% of our members are able to access the incredible programs and services that we can offer at our Y because of generous donors who are igniting potential? Our Strong Communities Fund provides membership assistance to x members to make sure everyone can belong at our YMCA.
During the month of October, when you say YES, your donation will directly support children, youth, teens, adults and seniors to belong at our YMCA through our Strong Communities Fund.
Stop by the Welcome Desk at 570 York Street or 605 Cliffe Street and with a minimum donation of $1.00, you can sign a Y that will be displayed in our lobby.
Our goal is to raise $3000 this month to empower more people to learn, grow and thrive at our YMCA.
Be the Spark and say YES! Please give generously!

Strong Communities Breakfast Fundraiser
This year’s Strong Communities Breakfast Fundraiser was a smashing success!
We more than doubled the amount of money raised from previous years and can proudly include a whopping $3,545.45 into our Strong Communities Fund! Wow! That means more memberships for children, youth, teens, families, adults and seniors in our community.
This event would not be possible without the tireless work of the Nashwaaksis Y Service Club and their gourmet cooking skills. We are also incredibly grateful to our helpful volunteers. Special shout outs for Amy Bragdon and Nicki and Maggie Lyons-MacFarlane.
Your donations help ensure people of all ages are healthier and more productive regardless of their financial circumstance. Every dollar donated to the YMCA Strong Communities Fund directly supports kids and families in your community. Thank you for igniting potential in Fredericton!

Giving Tuesday, 2023

Healthy Kids Day, 2023
The YMCA kicked off the summer with an incredible community event that took place on the last Saturday in June. More than 350 smiling members from the Fredericton community were welcomed to the YMCA for a fun filled day. Many of our guests were first time visitors to our Y. |
Families got to enjoy swimming sessions in both our lap and leisure pools and try their hands at fun activities like pickleball and squash. Families were also welcomed to partake in 3 separate yoga classes and 2 spin classes! There were also fun activities for the children including 2 bouncy castles, tours of a police cruiser and fire truck, facepainting, sidewalk chalk drawing, lawn games like washer toss and Gym Tots. There was even an infirmary for stuffies where children learned basic first aid skills like bandaging from our swim staff. Many of our guests worked up voracious appetites for a delicious Barbecue lunch that included healthy snacks like watermelon, bananas and granola bars. |
This event would not have been possible if not for the support of our numerous volunteers, staff and community partners. Special thank you to Maple Leaf Homes, Dillon Consulting, J. Donovan Law Group, Nashwaaksis Y Service Club, Sunpoke, RJ Bartlett Engineering Ltd., Stingray Media Solutions, Dr. Phil Burton, PMC, McMillan Dentistry, Foster and Company, NBCC and Teed Saunders Doyle. We are so grateful for your help and support and contributing to an unforgettable day. |
Save the date for next year! We’re planning to do it all again on Saturday, June 22, 2024! If you wish to be a sponsor for our Healthy Kids Day event in 2024, or if you have any questions about getting involved, please reach out to Elizabeth Kearns at elizabeth.kearns@ymcafredericton.org. |

Giving Tuesday

Riverview Ford Lincoln gives back with a lead gift of $5000 to the YMCA of Fredericton’s
“Help Send a Kid to Camp” Campaign.

Every child deserves the chance to play with friends, learn new skills, become independent and feel good about themselves. Summer Camp provides the opportunity for children to thrive, all while having fun! This year, as part of the YMCA of Fredericton’s “Strong Communities Campaign”, Riverview Ford Lincoln will be kicking off “Help Send a Kid to Camp Campaign” with a generous lead gift of $5000. This allows for several children, who may not otherwise have the financial resources to attend camp this summer, experience the gift of friendship and magic that summer camp offers.
The YMCA of Fredericton is grateful for Riverview Ford Lincoln’s support of this initiative. Chris and Aneta Gauthier are proud of their family business and recognize that in order for healthy communities to flourish, families comes first. “We have 3 boys of our own, and going to camp has made a difference in their lives. We want to be able to give other kids the opportunity to have that experience. It is especially important in the current state of our world for kids to have something fun to look forward to and if we can play a small part in enabling that, we are more than happy to participate. In February, we started a Kindness Campaign at Riverview Ford Lincoln to spread kindness across local businesses and local initiatives. We feel it is very important to be a positive member of the local community and support the community that supports us. It’s our way of giving back.”
The YMCA of Fredericton is a natural choice for this lead gift. When Chris and Aneta from Riverview Ford Lincoln consider the YMCA, they see that it is synonymous with kids and community; and it aligns with their sense of responsibility to support local initiatives. “The Y’s goals to help people become healthier in spirit, mind and body is at the forefront of everyone’s minds, including ours. Our family values and community spirit are a perfect partnership with the “Y”.
Chris and Aneta, along with their team at Riverview Ford Lincoln, encourage others to donate to this important cause. Please consider giving a child the gift of friendship, memories and magic by experiencing YMCA of Fredericton Summer Camp.
