Position Overview 5:00 AM Start Time
  • Maintain front line delivery presence and excellence in daily operational issues relating to membership sales and services.
  • Meet, greet, and answer all member/potential member questions in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Facilitate membership and program registrations.
  • Participate in membership sales strategies that support the recruitment of new members and the retention of existing members (eg. making phone calls, helping members through the welcome desk, help members that have reached out through emails, being able to talk about current promotions that we are offering, facility tours, etc).
  • Perform light cleaning and organization duties as required to keep the work area and facility clean.
  • Actively participate in scheduled programs, meetings, and special events.
  • Work with other Y team members to help facilitate the growth of the YMCA.
General YMCA Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates appropriate behaviors in line with our mission, vision, and values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the association.
  • Represents the YMCA and the association in a professional manner.
  • Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
  • Understands the importance of the volunteer/staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors, and staff.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 17 years of age.
  • Workplace Standard First aid is an asset
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is an asset.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, and relationship building skills; ability to establish a rapport with members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with members, staff and volunteers.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work - evening and weekends and holidays.

Position Overview:
  • Read, sign-ff, and follow NB Child Care Licensing requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining and following all New Brunswick Licensing Standards for childcare center.
  • Ensure a constant presence with the children in your program, engaging in activities with the youth and promoting safety first at all times.
  • Follow and implement the YMCA Play to Learn Curriculum, which is a play-based curriculum. Through this curriculum, you are responsible to guide the children's learning of literacy, numeracy, art, science, etc.
  • Incorporate Physical Activity on a daily basis. (i.e. gym, outdoor play, swim time, etc.) Please note that children swim on a weekly basis. YMCA After-School Staff are expected to swim with the children.
  • Deliver planned monthly activities.
  • Ensure After-School program spaces are kept neat, tidy, and safe at all times.
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for children.
  • Inform the Manager of School Ages Care of any program changes, problems, and concerns immediately.
  • Maintaining all certifications required (including CPR/First Aid).
  • Actively participates in scheduled programs, meetings, and special events.
  • In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers, and YMCA program staff, assists and encourages program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions Hours of Work: o 1:30pm – 5:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday o 12:00pm – 5:30pm Wednesday o Additional Hours: on scheduled school closure days and storm days (full days 7:30am – 5:30pm) General YMCA Responsibilities

  • Incorporate Physical Activity on a daily basis. (i.e. gym, outdoor play, swim time, etc.)

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, YMCA staff training events and other Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Hours.
  • Practice YMCA ‘SAM’ standards, develop a healthy rapport with the Fredericton YMCA After-School children, their families, and the public.
  • Ensure After School program spaces are kept neat, tidy, and safe at all times.
  • Inform the Manager of School Age Care of any program changes, problems, and concerns immediately.
  • Submit questions or concerns about the workplace to the YMCA of Fredericton Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for children
  • Responsible for maintaining and following all New Brunswick Licensing Standards for child care centers.
  • Review and understand each standard and comply with the necessary requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in early learning and/or school age environments.
  • 19 years old (minimum age).
  • Workplace Standard First Aid.
  • Standard First Aid and Level C CPR required.
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma, Teaching Certificate, or equivalent is an asset.
  • Experience and/or training in child development, children’s programs, and youth recreation is considered an asset.
  • Age specific certificates considered an asset (i.e. Children with disabilities, infant/ toddler, school age, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Provincial licensing policies and regulations an asset.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development check.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work- early mornings, days, evening, and weekends.
