Riverview Ford Lincoln gives back with a lead gift of $5000 to the YMCA of Fredericton’s

“Help Send a Kid to Camp” Campaign.

Every child deserves the chance to play with friends, learn new skills, become independent and feel good about themselves. Summer Camp provides the opportunity for children to thrive, all while having fun! This year, as part of the YMCA of Fredericton’s “Strong Communities Campaign”, Riverview Ford Lincoln will be kicking off “Help Send a Kid to Camp Campaign” with a generous lead gift of $5000.  This allows for several children, who may not otherwise have the financial resources to attend camp this summer, experience the gift of friendship and magic that summer camp offers.

The YMCA of Fredericton is grateful for Riverview Ford Lincoln’s support of this initiative. Chris and Aneta Gauthier are proud of their family business and recognize that in order for healthy communities to flourish, families comes first. “We have 3 boys of our own, and going to camp has made a difference in their lives. We want to be able to give other kids the opportunity to have that experience.   It is especially important in the current state of our world for kids to have something fun to look forward to and if we can play a small part in enabling that, we are more than happy to participate. In February, we started a Kindness Campaign at Riverview Ford Lincoln to spread kindness across local businesses and local initiatives. We feel it is very important to be a positive member of the local community and support the community that supports us. It’s our way of giving back.”

The YMCA of Fredericton is a natural choice for this lead gift. When Chris and Aneta from Riverview Ford Lincoln consider the YMCA, they see that it is synonymous with kids and community; and it aligns with their sense of responsibility to support local initiatives. “The Y’s goals to help people become healthier in spirit, mind and body is at the forefront of everyone’s minds, including ours. Our family values and community spirit are a perfect partnership with the “Y”.

Chris and Aneta, along with their team at Riverview Ford Lincoln, encourage others to donate to this important cause.  Please consider giving a child the gift of friendship, memories and magic by experiencing YMCA of Fredericton Summer Camp.

    About the Strong Communities Campaign

At the YMCA, we believe that everyone, regardless of their financial circumstance, deserves the chance to access our programs and services. Last year, more than 1200 participants turned to us for help, looking for a safe, welcoming place to engage in activities that improve their lives and help them achieve their goals. Currently, 1 out of 5 of our members and participants rely on this financial subsidy to take part in our programs and services, like day camp, health and fitness memberships, and swimming lessons— to name a few.

Through the support of our donors, the YMCA of Fredericton provided more than $250,000 in financially assisted programs and services to children and families in need last year.

Your gift will help ensure people of all ages are healthier and more productive regardless of their financial circumstance. Every dollar donated to the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign directly supports kids and families in your community.

Please make a gift to YMCA Strong Communities today.

You can donate online at  or contact Shawna White to make a montly gift.

  • A Statement on Fredericton Aquatic Infrastructure

Statement from YMCA Fredericton CEO Darcy Delaney Regarding Online Discourse on Fredericton Aquatic Infrastructure The decision by Fredericton City Council on March 9 to decline an additional $1M annual funding request from the President of UNB has sparked significant online discussion about the current state of aquatics infrastructure in our region. Within that discussion, one online post referred to the YMCA as “the Y…members only. In no position to absorb the FAST swim organization, the Silver Dolphins,” and other groups. While I do not believe the author intended to disparage the YMCA, the statement does present an opportunity to clarify the role our organization plays in the community. The YMCA is not a “members only” organization. Many of our programs and services are available to the general public. Some are offered for a fee and others free of charge. Our membership model helps share the operational cost of running our facilities, and in return members enjoy access to a broad range of aquatics opportunities including aquacise, lane swims, open swims, swim lessons, and advanced aquatics courses. Our membership rates remain competitive when compared with other recreation and wellness facilities. Today, more than 6,000 people in our region are members of the YMCA, represented by a duly elected volunteer board of directors. Importantly, more than 16 percent of those members receive some form of financial assistance to support their participation. The YMCA does not receive municipal operating subsidies or funding for membership assistance. As a registered charity, we raise funds through donations and community support to ensure people can access important aquatics, wellness, social, and recreational programs. In 2025 alone, the Fredericton YMCA provided more than $500,000 in community support through subsidized memberships, reduced camp fees, and free programming for individuals and families who might otherwise face barriers to participation. In 2023 our membership supported a long-term building condition assessment for our facility to ensure our infrastructure and building envelope are maintained well beyond their expected life cycle. This type of stewardship is made possible through the commitment of our members. In 2025 our membership also funded a feasibility study exploring the addition of a new pool at our York Street YMCA location. The results of that study were positive. However, a capital project of that scale is beyond what our YMCA can undertake on its own. I do agree with the author of the post on one important point: the YMCA is not in a position to absorb multiple competitive swim organizations within our current facility. Our aquatics centre was designed to operate sustainably within the capacity of our membership. That said, when the SMA pool closed indefinitely in September 2025 and the Fredericton Indoor Pool closed at the same time for roof repairs, the YMCA and our team worked quickly to adjust operations to support as many swimmers and organizations as possible. Our members accepted temporary disruptions so we could welcome swimmers from UNB Reds, FAST, Fredericton Artistic Swimming, as well as lane swimmers and aquacise participants from

Our Response To Covid-19 as of Friday, January 14, 2022

The YMCA of Fredericton’s main priority is the health of our staff, members and the broader community.  As of Friday, January 14, 2022 at 10:00 p.m., the YMCA of Fredericton is taking the necessary step to temporarily close our facility in compliance with the Province of New Brunswick’s Level 3 Public Health directive.  As per the current directive, we will re-open on Monday, January 31 at 5:30 a.m.  This closure will affect our Health, Fitness and Aquatics Centre at 570 York Street and all YMCA programming.

    Stay With Us

Today, we are humbled and encouraged by the response of our members that have reached out to us with encouraging words and inquiries about donating their bi-weekly membership payment back during this, our third COVID-19 closure.  If you would like to participate in our #StayWithUs Campaign, please send an email to staywithus@ymcafredericton.org and indicate your wishes.  During the time of our closure, your bi-weekly base membership fee will become a donation to the YMCA and a donation receipt will be issued for your gift.

Child Care & After School Programs

YMCA Child Care is an essential service and will remain open during the Level Three Phase.  Any new guidelines set out by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development will be communicated directly to our families.

We will continue to use our website and social media channels to provide updates as the COVID-19 situation unfolds.  Please be assured that our leadership team is involved in active discussions to advocate for the re-opening of the YMCA for the physical and mental health of our members.

We will not maintain a copy of your proof of vaccination.
    • Non-members and visitors to the Wellness Facility will be required to show proof of vaccination along with a piece of government issued ID when they enter. Non-members, including regular drop-ins and parents of members, will have the option of signing up for a quick access card, which will allow you faster access to the facility in the future. Please note, if you do not already have a YMCA card, there will a $5+HST fee for a card.
    • If you have a child (12+) who is currently registered in a program that operates in a different facility, we ask that you come to the YMCA Welcome Desk, before the next scheduled meeting date, and provide your child’s proof of vaccination and consent to it being noted on their registration and membership. Alternatively, you will have to bring their proof of vaccination to each session, until it is verified at the YMCA. Once your child’s vaccination status is noted on their membership, you will not have to provide proof again for future registrations, as long as their membership remains active.
    • UPDATE: Children who were born between July 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009 may participate in activities provided they have received one vaccination and have until October 31, 2021 to receive their second dose.
    • Please note that individuals who cannot receive a vaccine because of a medical exemption will be required to show proof of exemption signed by a health care provider along with government issued ID. This applies to members and non-members who are medically exempt.
    • Effective 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, masks must be worn at all times throughout the facility except while actively exercising.

What is acceptable for proof of vaccination?

    • MyHealthNB record
    • Immunization record from an RHA clinic, pharmacy or Public Health
    • Photo or copy of an immunization record
    • Proof of vaccination from another jurisdiction

    Medical exemptions

Please note that individuals who cannot receive a vaccine because of a medical exemption will be required to show proof of exemption signed by a health care provider along with government issued ID. This applies to members and non-members who are medically exempt.

We ask that you be patient as there may be slightly longer delays in entering the facility while our staff verify vaccination records.
