YMCA of Fredericton Coronavirus Update: March 13, 2020

The YMCA of Fredericton is ready to respond in alignment with the information and guidance from Health Canada and supporting agencies. The YMCA is currently taking steps both in terms of prevention (ie hygiene and housekeeping practices), preparedness and our response in the event of an outbreak. We have a number of systems, policies and activities that occur on a daily basis in our ongoing effort to keep our community safe and to react if needed.

You may have heard through the news or social media about Coronavirus (COVID-19), which is raising health concerns across the globe. Although a small number of confirmed or presumptive cases of the virus have been identified in this country, Health Canada, the New Brunswick Department of Health and other agencies have stated that the risk to Canadians remains low. This outbreak is being closely monitored by all relevant agencies in our province and federally.

#StrongCommunitiesCampaign We are excited to launch our Strong Communities Campaign, a new fundraising initiative that blends our reasons for giving with our vision of a healthy, diverse and growing community. Although our name has changed, our objective remains the same; raising much needed resources to give children, teens, adults and seniors the opportunities they need to live healthier, happier lives!

YMCA Peace Week is a time when we celebrate the presence of peace in our communities, and reflect on the peace-building work that happens all year round, both inside and outside the YMCA. The Peace Medallion was developed in 1987 by the International Committee at the YMCA of Fredericton and has since been adopted by YMCAs across Canada.

The YMCA of Fredericton would like to welcome RAENA STEEVES as our new Dance Manager!

The YMCA of Fredericton would like to welcome RAENA STEEVES as our new Dance Manager! Raena brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role at the YMCA. She grew up dancing with Bonnie Kilburn & Dance Fredericton and then spent a year at Concordia University in the Fine Arts Program, majoring in Contemporary Dance. Raena also has 7 years of experience running her own dance school, Foriver Dance, which she started as a fun dance alternative for her children and their peers. Raena is currently taking her Beginner Pole Instructor course. She has competed twice, coming 2nd in her first Level 2 competition and 1st in her second Level 3 competition. We are very excited to have Raena joining our YMCA team!

YMCA of Fredericton launches 2019 Strong Kids Campaign – Fundraising effort aims to raise $150,000

The YMCA of Fredericton is launching it’s 2019 Strong Kids Campaign on February 19, setting a goal of $150,000, to ensure individuals and families have access to YMCA programs and services regardless of their financial situation.
