YMCA of Fredericton launches 2019 Strong Kids Campaign – Fundraising effort aims to raise $150,000
(Fredericton, NB - February 19, 2019)
The YMCA of Fredericton is launching it’s 2019 Strong Kids Campaign on February 19, setting a goal of $150,000, to ensure individuals and families have access to YMCA programs and services regardless of their financial situation.
The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign helps to eliminate the financial barriers that many individuals and families face. On average, each year, the YMCA of Fredericton assists over 1200 individuals through membership and camp assistance. Last year, 1 in 5 individuals coming to the Y required financial assistance, and the need continues to rise. Jason Dickson, CEO, states that “Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where members can develop healthy habits that will become lifelong practices. We believe that everyone deserves the right to lead an active healthy lifestyle regardless of their financial situation.” All monies raised goes directly to individuals and families, in the Fredericton area, who have applied for financial assistance.
Jacquee Mills explains that because of the YMCA she had the tools she needed to cope. “Because of autism and various medical issues with my children, the last 18 years have been a struggle. Confidence and self esteem are very important in parenting and they can take a hard hit when you are struggling financially. I am grateful to the Y for the membership assistance program and the opportunities it has provided my family”.
To kick off the annual campaign, YMCA Strong Kids Volunteers will be holding a Calling Campaign on Tuesday February 19 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at the YMCA.
On Saturday, February 23 (8:00 – 10:30 am - Willie O’Ree Place) the Nashwaaksis Y Service Club will be hosting their monthly fundraising breakfast and we are pleased to announce that the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is the grateful recipient of the proceeds! Tickets are on sale at the door or from firstname.lastname@example.org

Your support leaves a lasting impact
By giving to the YMCA of Fredericton you are building a stronger and healthier community for all people. In our communities, one in three children live below the poverty line and unfortunately this means having to do without services that many of us take for granted. By giving to the YMCA you help remove financial barriers and open doors for all people to participate in health, recreation and life-building activities, regardless of financial circumstance. At the YMCA we believe this makes us all stronger.
