After a careful assessment of the current operations in our basketball program and a clear vision for our future Recreation and Competitive programs, The YMCA of Fredericton will be dissolving the “Fusion” partnership effective immediately.
Beginning in September 2022 The YMCA will once again be operating the YMCA Capitals Basketball program with recreation and competitive streams for youth ages 6 – 15.
Our future programming will include sanctioned Basketball New Brunswick development programming, annual Holiday Hoops Tournament for competitive teams and weekly skills, drills and play for the recreational teams.
Our program is designed to be inclusive for all members of our community and with thanks to our Strong Community Fund we will remove any financial barriers for all youth who wish to participate.
YMCA members can take advantage of our Zero Registration fee for recreational basketball (with a minimal equipment fee for jerseys and balls for all players).
YMCA members can also take advantage of a reduced registration fee for the competitive teams.
All fund raising for team events, will be coordinated through the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign. Teams that wish to raise additional funds will be able to do so with the assistance of the YMCA Philanthropy team.
As of now, we have a number of sponsors prepared to support our annual tournament and rec basketball operations.
The YMCA of Fredericton is excited to be moving into this new phase of Basketball for our city. We look forward to your participation and hope to see you all out on the court soon.
