Following this afternoon’s announcement by the Government of New Brunswick, the Fredericton Region (Zone 3) is transitioning to the Orange Phase of the Provincial Recovery Plan as of midnight tonight, November 26, 2020. The YMCA of Fredericton will remain open with a revised operational plan to keep our members, staff and community as safe and healthy as possible.
We have been notified by Public Health of a potential COVID-19 exposure at our YMCA. This took place in the main level Gymnasium at 570 York Street on the evening of Tuesday, November 17. Please note; this does not affect our Wellness Centre, Locker Rooms, Pool or Child Care Centre. Contact tracing is currently underway and if you are not contacted by Public Health, they have indicated you are not at risk from this exposure.
YMCA Peace Week is a time when we celebrate the presence of peace in our communities, and reflect on the peace-building work that happens all year round, both inside and outside the YMCA. The Peace Medallion was developed in 1987 by the International Committee at the YMCA of Fredericton and has since been adopted by YMCAs across Canada. As part of YMCA Peace week, YMCAs across Canada present the YMCA Peace Medallion to individuals or to a group, who, without any special resources, status, wealth or position, demonstrate a commitment to the values of PEACE through contributions made within their local, national or global community. This year, the YMCA of Fredericton is pleased to announce that the recipient of the YMCA Peace Medallion is Corinne Saunders Hersey.
