    – The Squash Court will be closed for the weekend.  Upon re-opening on Monday, participants must complete a temperature and health check screening prior to playing.

    Facility & Membership Reminders

    • Upon arrival at the facility, hand sanitizer will be available for all patrons.
    • Locker rooms are open, which includes access to lockers, steam rooms, towel service and showers . All members are expected to respect physical distancing requirements while using these spaces.
    • Masks must be worn at all times throughout the facility. Masks may only be removed once ‘stationed’ (i.e. inside a shower/washroom/change stall, seated in steam room, on a cardio machine, at a Wellness Centre weight station, immediately before entering the pool, as a Group Fitness class begins).
    • Physical distancing requirements remain at 2 metres/6 feet throughout the facility.
    • Members are asked to use sanitizing spray and disposable paper towel before and after use of all Wellness Centre & Fitness Class Equipment.

    Physical Distancing
    The YMCA has implemented a strict physical distancing policy.  All individuals inside our facility will be expected to maintain a two-metre (six-foot) minimum distance between themselves and others.  Signage is visible throughout the facility.

    Please Note:  The YMCA of Fredericton adheres to all recommendations from Public Health.  All guidelines are dependant on their recommendations and could change at any time due to their directive.  Individuals who have tested positive either with a rapid POCT or PCR lab-based test MUST isolate and cannot attend organized sport and recreation activities for 10 days after a positive test regardless of vaccination status.  After 10 days, an individual who tested positive must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications before attending any organized sport and recreation activities.  Rapid tests (POCT) should not be used as a tool for participants to return to activities following a positive test.

    Our Response To Covid-19 as of Friday, January 14, 2022

    The YMCA of Fredericton’s main priority is the health of our staff, members and the broader community.  As of Friday, January 14­, 2022 at 10:00 p.m., the YMCA of Fredericton is taking the necessary step to temporarily close our facility in compliance with the Province of New Brunswick’s Level 3 Public Health directive.  As per the current directive, we will re-open on Monday, January 31 at 5:30 a.m.  This closure will affect our Health, Fitness and Aquatics Centre at 570 York Street and all YMCA programming.

    Membership Fees

    Please note that no fees for memberships will be processed until our facilities re-open and services resume.  As well, during our temporary closure, we are unable to process membership cancellations or hold requests.

     

    Stay With Us

    Today, we are humbled and encouraged by the response of our members that have reached out to us with encouraging words and inquiries about donating their bi-weekly membership payment back during this, our third COVID-19 closure.  If you would like to participate in our #StayWithUs Campaign, please send an email to staywithus@ymcafredericton.org and indicate your wishes.  During the time of our closure, your bi-weekly base membership fee will become a donation to the YMCA and a donation receipt will be issued for your gift.

    YMCA Child Care is an essential service and will remain open during the Level Three Phase.  Any new guidelines set out by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development will be communicated directly to our families.

    Following a recent announcement by the Government of New Brunswick, the YMCA of Fredericton will be operating at a 50% capacity limit as of 11:59 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021.

    Facility & Membership Reminders

    *Masks must be worn at all times throughout the facility except while actively exercising.

    *Physical distancing requirements remain at 2 metres/6 feet throughout the facility.

    *We ask that our members bring their membership card, along with proof of vaccination and government issued ID, to be verified by our Welcome Desk staff. You will have the option for us to note your vaccination status on your account for quicker access to the facility in the future.

    Aquatic Update

    In order to comply with physical distancing and 50% operating directives we are implementing a sign-up process for all AquaFit Classes effective immediately.

    * Classes will be capped at 25 participants for AquaFit and 8 participants for AquaStretch & AquaYoga.
    * You may call the Welcome Desk starting at 1:00PM the day before scheduled classes to register.

    * A reminder, masks must be worn until entering the pool.  A minimum of 6ft physical distancing on the deck and in the pool is required.

    On Saturday morning you will see changes in the Wellness Centre and throughout our facility in efforts to maintain physical distancing between members.

    As always, we also ask that you are mindful and respectful of each other and of Y staff during this time and we thank you for your continued support as we work through this transition together.

    Following recent announcements by the Government of New Brunswick, required proof of full vaccination, or signed medical exemption, (for those 12 years of age and older) and a mandatory indoor mask requirement (for those 2 years of age and older) will come into effect on 11:59 p.m. September 21, 2021.

    We ask that our members bring their membership card, along with proof of vaccination and government issued ID, to be verified by our Welcome Desk staff. You will have the option for us to note your vaccination status on your account for quicker access to the facility in the future.

    • Effective 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, we ask that our members bring their membership card, along with proof of vaccination and government issued ID, to be verified by our Welcome Desk staff. Members will have the option to consent to the Fredericton YMCA noting on your membership that your vaccination status was verified, so that you will not be required to produce your vaccination proof each time you access the Wellness Facility, as long as your membership remains active. Your membership card will then give you access to the Wellness Facility gate. Alternatively, if you do not wish for this information to be recorded on your membership, you may bring your proof of vaccination and government issued ID to be verified at each visit. We will not maintain a copy of your proof of vaccination.
    • Non-members and visitors to the Wellness Facility will be required to show proof of vaccination along with a piece of government issued ID when they enter. Non-members, including regular drop-ins and parents of members, will have the option of signing up for a quick access card, which will allow you faster access to the facility in the future. Please note, if you do not already have a YMCA card, there will a $5+HST fee for a card.
    • If you have a child (12+) who is currently registered in a program that operates in a different facility, we ask that you come to the YMCA Welcome Desk, before the next scheduled meeting date, and provide your child’s proof of vaccination and consent to it being noted on their registration and membership. Alternatively, you will have to bring their proof of vaccination to each session, until it is verified at the YMCA. Once your child’s vaccination status is noted on their membership, you will not have to provide proof again for future registrations, as long as their membership remains active.
    • UPDATE: Children who were born between July 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009 may participate in activities provided they have received one vaccination and have until October 31, 2021 to receive their second dose.
    • Please note that individuals who cannot receive a vaccine because of a medical exemption will be required to show proof of exemption signed by a health care provider along with government issued ID. This applies to members and non-members who are medically exempt.

    Following the announcement made by the Government of New Brunswick, the Province of NB will transition to the Green Phase of the COVID-19 Provincial Recovery Plan as of 11:59 p.m. July 30, 2021.

    Facility and Program Updates

     Members are welcome to continue to wear a mask if they choose, but are not required to do so.

    – While physical distancing is no longer required, we encourage our members to be mindful of others’ space and recognize that we all have varying levels of comfort during this transition.

    – Frequent hand washing is encouraged while visiting the facility.  Hand sanitizer will continue to be available upon entering the building.

    – Members are asked to continue to clean all equipment after use using sanitizing spray and disposable paper towel.

    – The Stretch & Core Room on the main level will remain open for member use.

    – Squash Courts will not be re-opening.

Members will have the option to consent to the Fredericton YMCA noting on your membership that your vaccination status was verified, so that you will not be required to produce your vaccination proof each time you access the Wellness Facility, as long as your membership remains active. Your membership card will then give you access to the Wellness Facility gate. Alternatively, if you do not wish for this information to be recorded on your membership, you may bring your proof of vaccination and government issued ID to be verified at each visit. We will not maintain a copy of your proof of vaccination.
    • Non-members and visitors to the Wellness Facility will be required to show proof of vaccination along with a piece of government issued ID when they enter. Non-members, including regular drop-ins and parents of members, will have the option of signing up for a quick access card, which will allow you faster access to the facility in the future. Please note, if you do not already have a YMCA card, there will a $5+HST fee for a card.
    • If you have a child (12+) who is currently registered in a program that operates in a different facility, we ask that you come to the YMCA Welcome Desk, before the next scheduled meeting date, and provide your child’s proof of vaccination and consent to it being noted on their registration and membership. Alternatively, you will have to bring their proof of vaccination to each session, until it is verified at the YMCA. Once your child’s vaccination status is noted on their membership, you will not have to provide proof again for future registrations, as long as their membership remains active.
    • UPDATE: Children who were born between July 1, 2009 and December 1, 2009 may participate in activities provided they have received one vaccination and have until October 31, 2021 to receive their second dose.
    • Please note that individuals who cannot receive a vaccine because of a medical exemption will be required to show proof of exemption signed by a health care provider along with government issued ID. This applies to members and non-members who are medically exempt.
    • Effective 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, masks must be worn at all times throughout the facility except while actively exercising.

    What is acceptable for proof of vaccination?

    • MyHealthNB record
    • Immunization record from an RHA clinic, pharmacy or Public Health
    • Photo or copy of an immunization record
    • Proof of vaccination from another jurisdiction

    Parents who are picking up children in our licensed Child Care area, and are not entering our Wellness Facility, are not required to show proof of vaccination at this time, however they must continue to wear their mask at all times, per current guidelines.

    Following the announcement made by the Government of New Brunswick, the Province of NB will transition to the Green Phase of the COVID-19 Provincial Recovery Plan as of 11:59 p.m. July 30, 2021.

    Facility and Program Updates

     Members are welcome to continue to wear a mask if they choose, but are not required to do so.

    – While physical distancing is no longer required, we encourage our members to be mindful of others’ space and recognize that we all have varying levels of comfort during this transition.

    – Frequent hand washing is encouraged while visiting the facility.  Hand sanitizer will continue to be available upon entering the building.

    – Members are asked to continue to clean all equipment after use using sanitizing spray and disposable paper towel.

    – The Stretch & Core Room on the main level will remain open for member use.

    – Squash Courts will not be re-opening.

    – Open gym time will resume on Saturday, July 31st.  Please see our website at https://fredericton.ymca.ca/programs/drop-in-programs/ for schedule.

    – Member sign-up will no longer be required for Aqua Fit, Aqua Zumba or Yoga classes.

    Child Care & Summer Day Camps

    Any new guidelines set out by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for our child care departments will be communicated directly to our families.
